For those of you that missed the meeting, here are some notes about upcoming events!
-APE: Alternative Press Expo - The CBC will have their own table. Submit your BEST work to email@example.com by Oct 1 to have it printed and put on display at the table! It's GREAT exposure. Requirements: 8"x10" 300dpi, and have your name/blog/email ON the actual file so it displays when printing. Want to see your work at the con? It's held Oct 13-14 in downtown SF. Admission is only $10-15 and is a great way to network and learn fun stuff! http://www.comic-con.org/ape
-Michael Slack: Oct 22nd, 3-4pm at Powell - Michael Slack is a great illustrator! He'll be giving a presentation on creating children's books. Check out some of his stuff here: http://slackart.com/m/in-print/
-Charity Event: Book Drive - In November, we will be running a book drive to collect books for needy kids. We are organizing a drawing workshop that will hopefully knock your socks off that will also help get books. More information coming soon, but feel free to start collecting some books to donate now!
-Fieldtrip!!! - In December, we are organizing a club fieldtrip to see the Ezra Jack Keats exhibit at the Contemporary Jewish Museum. (You totally know his work, I promise-- more info here: http://www.ezra-jack-keats.org/keats-at-the-jewish-museum-2/)
-Display Case Competition: Did you know our club has its own display case in the Powell building? Check it out, it's right across the hall from Dax. We will be changing the artwork inside once per semester, and will be holding another competition to see who will be in it! More information coming soon!
-Monthly Themed Prompts: Each month on the 1st of the month we will be giving our members a themed prompt so that they can create artwork! This is a fun way to get more work done, get critique from your fellow club members-- and it could end up being your display case competition piece later! Each piece that gets submitted will be displayed on our Facebook, Google+, and blog! It's a great way to get more exposure for your work.
-Volunteers: We are looking for volunteers who might be interested in helping us set up and break down various events. If you're interested, please send your name, email, and student ID number to firstname.lastname@example.org
And as always, posting your artwork and current projects to our Facebook and Google+ is a great way to get exposure and feedback! Don't be afraid! Submit and help make this club a great community!
